"As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace."
1 Peter 4:10
LITURGICALLECTORS
Lectors proclaim the Word of God to the church community at the Sunday Masses. Usually two lectors serve at one Mass and are on a rotational basis. If you are interested in ministering as a lector, auditions can be scheduled by calling the church office or see contact page.
MINISTRY OF ALTAR SERVERS
Is a learning process wherein every boy or girl is honored in serving Our Lord in a very special way. The purpose of this worthy dedication of Altar Server is assisting the Priest during the Holy sacrifice of the Mass or as occasions arise. He or she must always present himself/herself to Our Lord in a pleasing manner and must always remember how important his/her duties are. The Altar Server's duties are revered by all for he/she is privileged to assist Our Lord's Banquet Table as the Priest changes the unconsecrated bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ. An invitation to serve is extended to all young men and women of the Parish.
EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
The primary purpose of Eucharistic Ministers in parish communities is to assist the ordinary ministers (Priests & Deacons) in the following circumstances. As participation at the masses increase, a corresponding increase in communions occur. Communion distribution by multi-individuals is necessary to avoid prolonged time during masses. Ministers may participate in taking the Eucharist to numbers of sick and disabled people who cannot attend Sunday and Feast Day Masses. Because of this Ministry the Shut-ins can now be given communion frequently and become a closer part in Community worship. In some remote areas a Priest serves multi-communities. In communities where the Eucharist is reserved the Eucharist Minister can distribute Communion in the absence of the Priest at prayer services and to the hospitalized and shut-ins in the area.
LITURGICAL ENVIRONMENT
This is a small group of parishioners' dedicated to planning and preparing the altar for Sunday and special occasions, i.e., Christmas, Holy Week and other times. Working closely with the Pastor, ideas become reality and the theme of the day or season gives all parishioners the opportunity to enjoy our church environment.
CHILDREN'S LITURGY
Every Sunday 10:30am during mass, children will go out and read the good news in a child's perspective. Ministers help and guide the child understand Sundays reading through song, work activity, or role play.
MINISTRY OF GREETER/ USHERS
Each one of you has received a special grace, so like good stewards responsible for all these different graces of God, put yourself at the service of others. 1 Peter 4:10 The ultimate goal of this Ministry is to render assistance at all times during services. The many responsibilities include: Greeting and escorting friends and visitors/guests of the congregation to their place of worship. Offertory collection, administering first aid when emergencies arise. Distribution of bulletins after the Mass and checking over-all tidiness of the church before the next service begins.

Each team has a Chairperson who’s responsible for bringing and setting up the supplies, coffee pots and large thermos jug of punch for the kids. These supplies are stored at the Chairperson’s house and turned over each month to the next Chairperson. The teams and Chairpersons are as follows:
Team A ~ June Love
Team B ~ Cindy Collins
Team C ~ Judy Zimmer
Additionally, each month there are 2 or 3 team members who to help with set-up and clean-up. For set-up we need to be at the church/school at least 30 minutes prior to the start of Mass in order to get things going and be ready by the end of Mass. At the present time, the Fellowship Ministry is also responsible for any extra receptions or celebrations that take place during the year. For example, the Archbishop’s, First Communion and Confirmation.
LITURGICAL MUSICMUSIC MINISTRY
The basic meaning of the word "ministry", when applied to musicians is that all music for the liturgy must serve the needs of the assembled people who praise the Lord. Musicians at worship are servants of the beautiful expression of the Word, with music being used to honor and sing praises to the Lord. Since Vatican II, the responsibility of inspiring and supporting the congregation to take a more active part in the music of the liturgy has been added. In the parish of Shrine of St. Padre Pio, the role of Music Ministry includes the performing vocalists, the parish music director, and the instrumentalists.
CHOIRS Our Parish has three adult choirs, a high school choir, and a children’s choir:
EDUCATIONAL

We serve the youngest members of our parish by providing them an environment in which to learn about the love of our Lord. We have a NURSERY program that serves our smallest of parishioners. And we have PRESCHOOL AND KINDERGARTEN classes. This ministry is offered during the 10:30 A.M. mass It provides the parents of these children, from 9 months through kindergarten, an opportunity to worship without the distractions of caring for children during mass. This ministry is provided in a team format in where one serves once every 4 weeks with other parish members as part of your team.
Children's LiturgyChildren's Liturgy of the WordThe Children listen to the scriptures and a homily that applies the scripture message to their life. It is an experience of prayer, of dialogue with God This is the Liturgy of the Word presented in a way that children first through fifth grade can understand. The lector reads the Sunday’s readings from a lectionary that was prepared for Children. The lector also prepares a children’s homily. The children are given an activity sheet or Bible verse to help them remember the Gospel message throughout the week. The presenter needs to prepare ahead of time and be willing to share the joy of God’s Good News. Preschool VBS

SPIRITUALACTSThe ACTS movement started in 1987 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, in Selma, Texas, a small suburb of San Antonio. This program was approved by Father Patrick Cronin, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, his pastoral council and Archbishop Patrick Flores. The ACTS movement received the blessing of the Archbishop to form a committee to develop a retreat weekend with a goal of having a men's retreat in July 1987 and a women's retreat in the fall of 1987. Archbishop Flores asked that the committee be sure to allow non-Catholics to attend as part of the community. Today, ACTS Retreats are open to all faiths and generally are directed primarily to those within a parish.
The acronym of ACTS came to mean Adoration, Community, Theology and Service, which is today the precept of these retreats. Nearly all who have experienced an ACTS retreat feel truly blessed by God through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Retreats for both Men and Women are held periodically throughout the year. After the Weekend, participants are encouraged to reach out to parish activities.
The ACTS Retreat truly does the work of the Holy Spirit. It has gradually become a Parish Weekend Retreat patterned after the description of the early Church in the Acts of the Apostles (ACTS 2:42-47); breaking bread together, worshipping together, receiving instruction together, sharing in communion, and reaching out in loving service.
ACTS Reunion MinistryThis Ministry would organize and is responsible for the ACTS community’s reunions. They would plan all reunions for the year as well as securing the events sites and activities. This is a fun way to keep the ACTS spirit alive throughout the year!
Eucharistic AdorationPerpetual Eucharistic Adoration is the adoration of Jesus Christ present in the Holy Eucharist. The Eucharist is displayed in a special holder called a monstrance, and people come to pray and worship Jesus continually throughout the day and often the night. Christ’s great love for us was shown when he was crucified on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and give us eternal life. He loves us without limit, and offers Himself to us in the Holy sacrament of the Eucharist. Can we not give Jesus a few minutes of love and adoration in return? Daytime and Nighttime hours are available.
MOMS - Ministry of Moms SharingMinistry of Moms Sharing is a mother's bible study group. It is for women who devote their time to the spiritual and physical upbringing of their children. With the stress and demands of time and energy, this is a place to "fill your cup" with personal and spiritual nurturing. Childcare is provided (during the school year). They meet at St. Mark's Catholic Church on Wednesday mornings during the school year. They also have a summer study to meet biweekly in the evenings. MOMS provides an opportunity for women to develop self-esteem, relationship skills, and a more defined sense of their own spirituality at a time when they are facing the difficult challenges of raising a family!
